Focused Links
Placing links to other sites and vice versa will help drive more traffic to your site.
When adding links to your site it is essential to follow a few rules, these rules
will ensure that by adding particular links it will help optimise your site for
search engines.
When adding links to your site make sure they are of relevance and are well designed
sites. This does not mean only link to sites that have a good search ranking as a
new site may have just launched and yet if they are designed well they will achieve good
ratings quickly.
Do not think that by linking to lots of sites that you will get good ratings. If they
don’t have anything to do with the type of services and products you offer it can
actually have a detrimental effect.
The links should have something to do with the products and services you offer
without being direct competitors, e.g. find someone that offers similar products
but not exactly the same.
Remember large search engines look for good links to sites of relevance.
Make sure all your links work. This will have to be regularly checked as some sites may
close.
Try and make sure that sites you link to provide a reciprocal link. You may find that
although they say they will they sometimes don’t. Add the link but if they don’t
add yours to their site in a month or so be prepared to remove their link. Zarr have
designed their sites to have content management so adding and removing links should be easy
and quick to implement.
